Staying pure to do work in the Spirit

Methods vs Working in the Spirit

Many people want to develop methods for spiritual work. God wants to work through His Spirit within us. To the degree that we trust in a method is to the degree we have moved away from trusting in Him and His guidance. Jesus even warns us in the New Testament that there will be some who have cast out demons in His Name and He will have to tell them to depart.

Matt 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

When we develop a pattern for deliverance, or healing, or performing miracles, we cease to walk purely with our heavenly Father and we enter into the supernatural in the realm of the world. Satan has power, has supernatural attractions. He is waiting for us to open a door to him. We must shut all doors that will give him any influence over us.
Our minds must always be conscious of God-things as we travel through this world. Our spiritual connection to God must stay intact to do His service.

Prov. 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Phip. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there by any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Through relationship with Him, His Word becomes our word. His Word plus His Spirit in us becomes empowerment to speak forth His will. When His Word is spoken, at His direction, it accomplishes what He desires and His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. When we spend time praying, fasting, seeking His face and listening at His feet we will know His will, just as Jesus did.
